Locking / Unlocking Your Domain

Domain Name Locking is a crucial security feature as it prevents domain names frem being transferred away to other Registrars without the lock being explicitly removed. Placing a lock has the following effects on your domain name:

  • The contact details and name servers of a locked domain cannot be modified.
  • A transfer request for a locked domain will fail and not be allowed.
  • An internal move of this domain (to another Nexigen customer) would not be permitted in this state

Domain names can be locked or unlocked from your hosted services control panel:

  1. Log in to your hosted services account at www.nexigenco.com > My Account > Hosted Services
  2. Click on Domain Management (on the left).  All of your domain names registered with Nexigen will be listed.
  3. Click "Details" next to the domain you wish to modify.
  4. Locate the check box marked "Registrar Lock".
  5. If you wish to lock the domain, ensure the checkbox is checked.  If you wish to unlock the domain ensure the checkbox is unchecked.
  6. When the checkbox is in the correct state click save.
