Change Your Name Servers (DNS)

In order to host your website or receive email with a hosting company you will need to point your domain to that hosting company's name servers (also known as DNS servers).  If your website is hosted with Nexigen, please use:

  • ns1.nexigenhosting.com
  • ns2.nexigenhosting.com

If you are using another ISP or hosting company you will need to contact them to obtain the correct name servers you need to use.

To Change Your Name (DNS) Servers:

  1. Log in to your hosted services account at www.nexigenco.com > My Account > Hosted Services
  2. Click on Domain Management (on the left).  All of your domain names registered with Nexigen will be listed.
  3. Click "Details" next to the domain you wish to modify.
  4. Enter the name servers provided by your hosting company in the boxes marked Name Server 1 - 4. (note: only 2 name servers are required, you may leave boxes 3 and 4 blank).
  5. Click Save

Notes:

  • If your domain is locked you will need to unlock the domain first.  This can be accomplished by unchecking the box marked "Registrar Lock" (directly below the name servers) and clicking save.
  • Although your changes will be made immediately at the top level (root servers), please allow 24 to 48 hours for your new information to take effect worldwide.  This is a standard time-frame required for a process called DNS propagation and is not controlled by any one ISP or company and therefore cannot be hastened.
